Dr. Hallock obtained a B.S. degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1969. He attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia [1975], completed a General Surgery residency at the Dartmouth Affiliated Hospitals in Vermont/New Hampshire, and ultimately a Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the University of North Carolina. He has been in the solo practice of Plastic Surgery in Allentown, Pennsylvania ever since. He remains board certified in General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Surgery of the Hand.
His research interests have been in fetal surgery, tissue expansion, flap anatomy, microsurgery, and now a passion in perforator flaps. In addition to having written over 400 peer-reviewed articles, he has published books “Fasciocutaneous Flaps” and “Perforator Flaps,” which is now in its second edition. Besides memberships in numerous national societies, he is an active member of the World Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery. He also serves as an associate editor for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery—GO, Annals of Plastic Surgery, Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, and Microsurgery.
