Dr. Raffaele Scaffa is a staff cardiac surgeon of the European Hospital in Rome, Italy. His particular clinical, surgical, and research interest is mainly focused on aortic root surgery and in particular on aortic valve repair.
Dr. Scaffa graduated cum laude at the Second University of Naples (Italy) and he attended his residency in Cardiac Surgery at the Tor Vergata University of Rome. He assumed a staff position in 2005 at the European Hospital in Rome (Director Ruggero De Paulis). In 2016 he was Visiting Physician at Beaumont Health Royal Oak (Michigan, USA) for a program of mini-invasive aortic valve replacement.
He is the author or co-author of numerous original articles in leading peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Scaffa has contributed to several chapters in other medical textbooks related to his specialty interests. He is an active member of EACTS since 2019 and formerly a member of Italian Society for Cardiac Surgery.
