A case of Churg-Strauss syndrome misdiagnosed as dermatitis

Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) is a rare small- and medium-sized-vessel vasculitis disease. CSS can be diagnosed by the presence of any four or more of the six criteria, which include asthma, eosinophilia greater than 10%, paranasal sinusitis, pulmonary infiltration, histological proof of vasculitis and mono- or poly-neuropathy. We report here a 50-year-old male who developed macules, papules, scratch and hyper pigmentation all over the body with severe pruritus. He had been suffering from the cough and weakness of the right limbs for 3 months. The laboratory findings showed severe eosinophilia. On the histological examination of the hemorrhagic vesicle on the right lower leg, extensive vascular necrosis, and many histocytes, lymphocytes and eosinophils around the cutaneous vessels were observed in the dermis.
