Clinical report and multidisciplinary team discussion of two fatal cases of severe acute pancreatitis
Abstract
Severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) develops in 20% of patients with acute pancreatitis (AP). Patients with SAP are at a higher risk of systemic and local complications and often need invasive interventions. In order to assess the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration mode in the diagnosis and treatment of SAP, an international multidisciplinary discussion was held for two patients, who died of SAP. Through the multidisciplinary discussion, the recent relevant literature was reviewed and the experiences and lessons from these two cases were summarized.
